LIVE PORTFOLIO REVIEWS! YAY!

Okay everyone, we're not even one week into the new year and crazy/might work idea numero uno has already flourished.

We have received a lot of emails asking for portfolio reviews from different photographers. We thought it would be an amazing idea to not only review the portfolio online, but to also have a conversation with the photographer while we are doing the review. A one on one that could help not only the photographer better their photos, but just about anyone else that is watching. And don't worry folks IT'S FREE!! YAY!! (But of course, donations are always welcome but not necessary...hint hint...wink wink!)

More info after the break!
FIREFOX USERS MIGHT NOT SEE THE VIDEO UNLESS THEY CLICK ON READ MORE!

We are sick and tired of seeing photography reviews that are composed of some "Pro" bashing some "amateur" for nothing more than ratings. I mean come on folks, who can actually learn something from hearing they suck. In our opinion that is not what a review is supposed to be like. And not only that, but all the reviewer knows about the photograph they are reviewing is the post processed image. I think they need to learn a little more about the situation, the lighting and most of all the photographer before any bashing is taken place. So we figured the only way to do this is to actually speak to the photographer while we review their portfolio. NO MORE BASHING WITHOUT KNOWING!! HOORAY THE WORLD IS SAFE!!

So this is where we said....wait a second you selfish photographers, we need to share this review with the world! So via skype, messenger or some webinar software we want to record the portfolio review and post it for everyone to see!!! What do you think??? Crazy, will it work...you never know unless you try!

So if you want us to review your portfolio and you are willing to share with the rest of the world your new found knowledge, drop us an email Mikey@lightenupandshoot.com or Andy@lightenupandshoot.com and we will get on it!! Ok, so maybe this can get out of hand so please be patient, email us and we will try to get to as many people as possible and unfortunately we will not be able to review everyones. So keep this in mind, but we'll try our best.

Final note: if you do not have any pictures online...what are you waiting for? GO SHOOT!!! GET UP, LEAVE THE COMPUTER ON, NO SCREW THE ENERGY BILL AND GO SHOOT!! NOW!!

Andy and Mikey

  9. David,

We want to encourage everyone to jump in and do a review with us. We want to help...no criticize. So, everyone stop be embarrassed and show your stuff. have a conversation with us...have fun. We all have to start somewhere. I am the first one to admit that I am not happy with my portfolio...but, I know I'll get better. We all have to start somewhere...might as well get advice from others who have been there. Lighten up! Shoot!!!!

  11. Ooooooooh I love this idea!! I need to shoot shoot shoot! Wish I had a bigger portfolio right now, I would benefit from this for sure!

I'll admit, I'm struggling with my flash, I'm having difficulty "applying" what I know out on the field.

  12. Carole,

I'm sure you aren't the only one having difficulty "applying" what you know out in the field. Andy and I had that problem the other night and decided to share what happened with everyone. But, that is why Andy and I decided to do the live reviews with our followers. There are other people having the same type of problems you are going through at the moment. It sounds cliche but it is true: you can learn lessons through mistakes. What problems are you having? How can Andy and I help? Email Andy or me with specifics; I want to know your "flash" problems so I can share with others...
